Zakat Al-Maal is the third pillar of Islam.  Any man or woman who meets the minimum requirements of wealth must pay their share of Zakat. However, paying Zakat is not a burden—it is a blessing and a testimony to one’s sincere faith and devotion to Allah.

In addition to helping the needy, Zakat also serves to purify the soul and bless the wealth of the one who gives it.  The giving of Zakat also helps to eliminate envy and greed as well as improve one’s spirit.  As the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “…Charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.”

Life for Relief and Development is privileged to be the bridge between the givers and receivers of Zakat. For the past 25 years, Life has provided service to the community by collecting and distributing Zakat.

The Zakat collected by Life is used to support numerous chartable programs, like helping orphans, providing food, water, medicine, and other supplies to those affected by poverty, conflict, and natural disasters.  Zakat is always distributed in strict accordance with the Qur’an and the Prophet's tradition (Sunnah).

The month of Ramadan is the best time of the year for charity, so please consider donating your Zakat through Life.

Thousands of needy people, including orphans, have been waiting the whole year for this month of charity.  Your Zakat will truly make a difference and your reward will be given to you by your Lord.
