Life for Relief and Development with funding from its partner Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRC) in the UAE hosted Iftar dinners for people in Haiti.
Life staff members packaged 980 food baskets and arranged distributions at several Mosques throughout Haiti. The food baskets supplied enough food for a family of 5 for one month. Items included were rice, beans, macaroni, tomato paste, sugar, salt, sardines, milk, bouillon cubes and cooking oil. The distributions were held at the following Mosques:
Tawheed
Yasin
Fatiha
Qadri
An Noor
Luqman
Al Akhbar
Al Fath
Al Munawar
Women’s Center of Gressier
The hot meals that were provided included rice, beans, meat/chicken and salad. The Iftar gatherings were held in Cite Soleil, Port-au-Prince, Bel Air, Delmas 18 & 19 and Gressier. Although the Iftar meals were held for the Muslim communities observing the fast, many non-Muslim families that attended the Iftar gatherings were welcomed to partake in these Iftars. Everyone that attended was very happy to socialize with their neighbors and friends at the dinners.
