Life’s Ramadan program was one of the most successful in Life’s 25 year history. We would like to thank all of our donors for funding Life’s 2017 Ramadan food basket program, it was because of you we were able to feed those in need this year.
Staff and partners in Haiti, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Egypt and the USA distributed food baskets to 9,623 families equivalent to 57,738 individuals and hosted Iftar meals for 12,600 displaced, refugee and poor people.
The total number of individual beneficiaries of food this Ramadan was 70,338.
With the help of our donors we successfully implemented our Ramadan food basket programs in the following countries:
Afghanistan – Food baskets were distributed to 470 orphans, widows and disabled in Kabul and 700 needy families in Kama
Egypt – Hot Iftar and Suhoor meals were served to 1400 families in 13 villages
Ghana – Food baskets were distributed to 550 poor and needy families in Alajo, Madina, Sakora, Kasuwa, Ashley Botwe, Tinkon, Nima and Mamobi
Haiti – Food baskets were distributed to 120 needy families from Masjid Al Noor, Masjid Al-Tawheed and Haiti Islam
Iraq – – Food baskets were distributed to displaced families, orphans and disabled in Mosul, 400 families in Hay Al-Naft, 500 families in Noor neighborhood, 450 families in Nu’maniyah on the left side of Mosul and on the right side of Mosul 1100 families in Hay Al-Manour, 500 families in Wadi Hajar and an additional 400 families on the right side of Mosul received food baskets. In Erbil 200 families in Kesnezan complex, 250 families in Salah Al Din Province and Samara district displaced in Erbil and 120 Palestinian families in the city council of Kinsanzan Erbil received food baskets.
Lebanon - Food baskets were distributed to 231 families in Arsal Lebanon
Pakistan – Food baskets were distributed to 600 poor and needy families in Sindh District Shikarpur villages Ilyas, Maroon Burira, Mohammed Salah, Qabaaado, Karan Sherif, Sohno Jafri, Auchy Maseet, Baharji Wahad, Garhi Yasin and Khanpur
Palestine – Iftar dinners and Suhoor meals were given to 4000 people the last 10 days of Ramadan at Masjid Al-Aqsa and food baskets were distributed to over 300 families in several locations in the West Bank.
Sierra Leone – Food baskets were distributed to 201 poor and needy families in Koyah western rural district
Syria – Iftars (cooked meals): South Damascus 3,600 and Al Ghouta 3,000 meals
Food baskets: Rural Damascus 1024, Idlib 280, Dara’a 200, and Arsal 231
Turkey - Iftars (cooked meals) were given to 600 families and 250 families received food baskets in the Syrian refugee camps in Gaziantep.
USA – Zakat al-Fitr food baskets were given to needy and refugee families.
